Knowing what to expect before you ever start the homebuying process can make your journey home easier. At Access Mortgage Partners, our philosophy creates a different kind of mortgage process. We like to work with homebuyers face-to-face as much as possible. During the process, we’ll be transparent and upfront with you about everything happening. And, we like to think of ourselves as your guide, which sometimes means say, “no” or “not right now.” At the end of the day, we’re here to look our for your financial life.
Step 1: Let’s Talk
We like to kick the mortgage process off with a face-to-face meeting, so we can get to know you and you laugh too. But, we understand if a phone call is easier for you.
Either way, this is a discovery meeting. We want to learn about your goals and start leading you down the path to a healthy mortgage! That means honest advice with your future in mind. Financial information is a big part of this conversation because it’s what your mortgage will be based on. If you’re looking at a house you can’t afford, we’ll be honest and tell you that you’ll be better off in a more budget-friendly home. We aren’t trying to sell you. We’re here to guide you to future success.
Step 2: Pre-qualification
During this step, we’ll ask for proof of income, run your credit report, and ask for other important financial information. Before we can really start talking specifics about your mortgage loan, we need to understand where you are financially and establish a maximum loan amount. Don’t worry, though, because after the boring paperwork stuff, you’ll be pre-qualified and can start house shopping! Getting pre-qualified helps you better understand your budget and will save you time while looking at homes.

It’s like we said in step 2, this is the fun part. Because, who doesn’t love looking at houses?!
During this step of the mortgage process, we send you out into the wild to search for your future home. With your accurate budget in mind and prequalification letter in hand, you can start looking for your future home. Once you’ve found it, put a bid in, and are under contract, you’re ready for the next step!
Step 4: Loan Application
It sounds complicated, but we’ll be with you every step of the way and make sure things stay straightforward. Once we have everything, we’ll submit your application to the underwriting department and request approval for your mortgage loan!

Step 5: Processing
Honestly, this step will probably frustrate you the most. Why? Documents.
And lots of them. We’ll need financial documents for your application to be processed, and we have to keep them updated, which means you may have to provide them more than once. When our processors call you and request documents, they are working for you and it’s helpful to get them what they need quickly. Trust us, we wish there was a way to make this part easier, but we’re always happy to help however we can!
Step 6: Closing
After all that work, you’ve finally made it! Your process called with some great news, “YOU’RE CLEAR TO CLOSE!” When you hear those words, you’ll remember why you started this crazy journey in the first place and your dream of owning a home will come true.
CONGRATULATIONS!
